Burlington

And there's a lot of small, unique, charming towns throughout Vermont.

And we really just stayed in Stowe and Burlington.

So there is much more to explore.

And it's very close to Canada as well.

It's walkable.

It's small, but it has a good mix of restaurants, cafes, galleries.

And so you're also close to Burlington, which is just about 45 minutes to an hour away.

And so we use Stowe primarily as our home base, but we did do a day trip to Burlington and we'll get into that a little bit.

The winner, the

first winner of the new Puzzler season is Roger Cook from Burlington, Vermont.

You know that I went to UVM in Burlington? Yes.

Anyway, for having his answer selected at random from the El Camino full of correct answers that we got, Roger is going to get a $25 gift certificate to the Shameless Commerce Division, which is at the Car Talk section of Cars.com, and with that gift certificate.

He can be the first one on his block to get a copy of our brand new CD, Car Talk Cartoons, which we have right here in the studio with us.

From a U.S. manufacturing standpoint, I would say I think the letter of intent I just talked about for investment to advance optical materials is an important area of innovation.

We are investing incredibly heavily in both our U.S. manufacturing locations out in Malta, New York, and also in Burlington, Vermont, in order to be able to develop and pursue U.S. innovation and manufacturing.

I think U.S. has a significant leadership position in the overall sort of hyperscaler data center market, and it continues to allow data centers.

And companies like ourselves and many other companies in the U.S., we do pursue innovation to enable that happening.

And this story is called Four Tires.

This story is related to my work at Spectrum Youth and Family Services in Burlington, Vermont, where I am the executive director.

And it's about a young woman who came to us a couple years ago.

Her name was Laura.

She was 18.

I'm not sure how she became homeless, but I think she went to the Burlington Police Department in the middle of the night and said, I'm homeless.

I have nowhere to go.

And the police said, go to this place called Spectrum on Pearl Street.

And Middlebury, Vermont has the magnificent Vermont Bookshop where Robert Frost used to shop when he was teaching at nearby Bread Loaf.

And I'll give a shout out as well to Phoenix Books in Burlington, Vermont, a store I love to visit when I venture 32 miles to the north.

I love

this.

This time of the year is great for the colored leaves.

Yeah, and even my son in London, Ontario, and his wife went to Burlington, Vermont last weekend, just this past weekend, to look at the leaves.

So it's a leaf-loving season, I guess you could say.

There you go.

If you could look up, how many years has Bernie Sanders been in the Senate? Senate? Yeah, just in the United States Senate.

Because I think he was the mayor of Burlington, Vermont, for a while, I think.

Or he was in some sort of thing.

It won't load.

for Bernie Sanders.

It says since 1991, but then down here it says since 1981 he was the mayor.

Of Burlington, Vermont.

Yeah, so it's actually 45 years.

Nice.

This is from Foam Brewers in Burlington, Vermont.

Wow.

I love Burlington.

Great city.

One of the best parts of the world.

Just all of Vermont is amazing, or at least all the parts I've been to.

Yeah,
