On this week’s episode of Unclear and Present Danger, Jamelle and John are joined by Vinson Cunningham of the New Yorker to discuss **Bulworth**, the 1998 black comedy (no pun intended) written…
Jon GanzHostBut this week, we are, we covered, we watched a movie we've been teasing for a little bit.
That is the 1998 comedy, eh, satire, Bulworth, co-wr- co-produced, directed by and starring Warren Beatty, uh, noted Hollywood star.
And I'll talk about Beatty l- later, but kind of a guy with a strange cinematic persona given, given just sort of, like, his looks and, you know, given everything about him.
Uh, Bulworth also stars Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Oliver Platt, Paul Sorvino, Jack Warden, and Isaiah Washington, as well as a ton of other character actors.
There's Amiri Baraka as a homeless man [laughs] who, uh, who kinda ends the movie with some, uh, enigmatic, an enigmatic admonition that we can talk about later.
Josh Malina, uh, Sean Astin, uh, Helen Martin, uh, Laurie Metcalf, Wendell Pierce, even Michael Clarke Duncan shows up.
Um, uh, we talked about with, on the, actually on the Patreon podcast, 'cause he also shot Apocalypse Now, and he worked frequently with Bertolucci.
I feel like if you are younger, like, not younger, if you're, like, in the 30 and up range, you probably have, like, a vague memory of this movie if you didn't see it.
Warren Beatty plays Jay Bulworth, a US senator from California and a Democrat who is currently in the midst of a primary challenge.
But in order to win this primary, he's been adopting more conservative politics, kind of usual bromides.
