A new stunning piece of reporting in The New Yorker takes a very detailed look at Jared Kushner's way of conducting foreign policy.

The author, Dexter Filkins, writes about how Kushner and Kushner's fellow envoy, Steve Witkoff, are out of their depth when dealing with Putin and Russia.

Quote, this month, Kushner and Witkoff visited Russia and Ukraine, hoping to restart stalled talks.

This is a Dexter Filkins story from The New Yorker, and it's really a good story and it's a really important story, and in it, not only is there the fact that Jared is enriching himself, but there's also just this incredible thing that they don't know what they're doing.

So like, we got into this war because Kushner and Witkoff, or as we call them, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, they were negotiating this, but they didn't know any of the specifics because they don't know anything about nukes.

So they didn't have any way to know, because they don't know anything, what was really happening.

And, and, and, and I think it's important, this is an important theme to keep coming back to, that Donald Trump could not hold two ideas in his head at the same time, which is that if we went to war against the Iranians, we would use up the supplies, um, or at least if he had been able to think beyond, beyond the first week of the war, we might use up the supplies that would be instrumental in gaining an advantage against the Russians in, in Ukraine.

Um, therefore, losing that advantage, we open up Europe and the world for a, um, a, for a, a new level of aggression from the Russians, which we might have stopped dead in its tracks if only we had had those bombs that we expended in Iran for no real advantage at all.

Well, happily, we've got Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner who are going to solve everything, and I will recommend Dexter Filkins' piece in The New Yorker.

It's very long, and rather ominously, it said at the top it would take 59 minutes if you were to listen to this article.

In between negotiating peace with Iran, securing a lasting ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia and a two-state solution for the Palestinians, somehow Jared Kushner still finds time to pluck his eyebrows and stay on top of his private equity firm, Affinity Partners.

The New Yorker this week reporting that while meeting with all the leaders of the Persian Gulf states, you know, to celebrate the opening of Hormuz and that lasting peace with Iran, Jared Kushner was somehow able to raise an additional $5 billion from those very same Persian Gulf leaders who want to invest.

More of their money in his private equity firm, which it turns out spits returns comparable to that of a money market fund.

Kushner really doesn't invest the money so much as he collects money.

In March of this year, The New York Times reported that while Jared Kushner was traveling around the Persian Gulf, you know, trying to negotiate some kind of peace and make sure all these oil rich kingdoms are on the same page as Trump.

he was also soliciting those very same kingdoms for an additional $5 billion for his investment firm, Affinity Partners.

The New Yorker this week reporting that while Jared Kushner never succeeded in landing that peace settlement, he did succeed in getting those nations to give him the five billion dollars he was asking for.

So one out of two, not bad, not not bad.

But also when theoretically people like Jared Kushner are supposed to be negotiating for some sort of a peace between Ukraine and Russia.

Russia, and now a new piece out of the New Yorker either yesterday or today takes a deep dive into Kushner and reveals what doesn't surprise anybody at all, that it certainly appears as if Kushner and the Trump administration have been negotiating over that war with the idea that Ukraine would give up territory to Russia and the U.S. would push that to happen in exchange for that Kushner-Trump axis getting the rights to build buildings and for economic development in Russia.

Your hair should be on fire, not least because it was well established by the Senate Intelligence Committee and other people as well.

But the Senate Intelligence Committee is one I always pick on because they were dominated by Republicans and their report on the attempts of the Russians to help Trump in 2016 were signed off unanimously.

But then when you get someone like Megan Romer, who, you know, my heart goes out to her because she's being treated like a pinata by Fox News and so many others.

And she goes on TV and she's asked by David, or she's talking to David Remnick of The New Yorker, and she's being asked, what do we do with Ukraine? And she's like, diplomacy.

We haven't done diplomacy enough.

And I'm listening to what she's saying about Ukraine.
