Zach is joined by John Hollinger to once again look at the punishment given to the Clippers and question whether maybe they got off easy. Then, they look at the players eligible for rookie extensions…
Jon HollingerGuestUh, but I wanted to start with a c- some Clippers follow-up, 'cause we, that's the last episode we did, was right after the Clippers verdict was rendered.
You wrote a column for The Athletic, um, following up on it and, and digging in through the report, just like I did.
Follow-up question number one: did they actually get off too easy? David Samson on Pablo Torre's podcast was, I think, the first person to really articulate this.
All, of course, motivated by pure ethical, moral, non-competitive, unbiased, you know, judgments.
Is it really that bad? They're gonna get these two picks back from Toronto once this deal goes through, assuming it does.
Uh, and that puts them, yeah, still in a big hole pick-wise, but not in as big a hole as they otherwise could be.
They are lucky, as you wrote in your piece, that this investigation dragged long enough t- for them to make that trade, and for them to get Keaton Wongler with the number five pick.
Um, and you know, there are people around the league, that I'm sure you've heard too, that say they should have to forfeit these Raptors picks because it's the proverbial fruit from the poisonous tree, from the very player that they, uh, engaged in this alleged corruption with.

They could'a gone after the extra pick that's coming from Indy, right? So they, they, they s- they still had some, some fruit out there that they, they could'a gone after their second round picks, too.

Um, so f- yeah, it was the same penalty as the Joe Smith in terms of the five firsts, but for what you would argue, I think, was a worse crime.
I expect, uh, from everything I've heard, nobody knows for sure because we're all waiting on it, I expect the Raptors-Clippers-Kawhi trade to go through as it was outlined, without any adjustments, with those picks from Toronto, both of them-
