Hey everyone, welcome back for a very special episode of The Woody Allen Retrospective Podcast. If this is your first time listening to WARP - perhaps you've found us through YouTube, Reddit or…
James Daniel WalshHostNo, one of the things that our assistant just said i'm actually going to bring to the forefront now is that we do want to make a community episode what i want to do is i want to hear from the listener we have a lot of people who email us and leave comments i want to kind of galvanize them together old and new and i want them to either email us or leave a voicemail for us and i will leave i'll leave all the details in the description how you can do it or Yeah, if you email us, we will turn it into like an AI voice so we can listen to it so everyone can hear it.
It doesn't matter if you're not a big fan and you've only heard a few films or, you know, you're a new fan and you weren't really convinced by a lot of the... bullshit narratives and you decided to give them a chance anyway.
They're very silent because the atmosphere has changed, but there are new fans and I really want to hear the people.
We want to do it around Christmas, but if we don't get enough contributions, then we'll do it later in 2027.
And I guess, you know, again, I find it, even to this day, I've said this for years, I find it very peculiar that, that apart from this podcast and the woody allen pages podcast which is on somewhat of a hiatus right now shout out to you buddy will shout out to the podcast there isn't much there should be more there should be more love for what the allen's done for the culture for for hollywood for cinema
and i would say you know i mean um we talked about how the culture changed when we started this and the culture has changed again I would say don't be too concerned about being in the closet as a Woody fan because if Kevin Spacey can start making movies again and James Franco and, you know, all these people, Louis C.K. and all these people who are all making comebacks now and Woody may even have a new movie in the works.
I think people have... gotten over it and and they're now back to for the most part uh separating the art from the artist and looking at things in a more let me put it this way people don't shrink quite so much as they used to when somebody starts screaming at them that uh how could you like this person think nowadays people are a little bit more like go yourself
yeah and i think people are looking at and and even kill even though sorry i'm not don't want to focus on the controversy but i will say you know when uh they released that mia alan v farrow documentary you know and that they tried to galvanize that hate for woody again It was really nice to see that some independent YouTubers, reporters, they made their own documentary defending Woody and showing the facts, the evidence.
Yes.
