AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies

And they were like, we're just going through...

They went through the AFI 100.

The movie list.

They went through that whole list.

And now the podcast has become finding the other 60.

And so they do movies...

They actually have done an episode on Tokyo Story because Tokyo Story wasn't on the AFI 100.

So they were like, well, everybody loves this movie.

So when I was in junior high school and high school, I got very into film history and classic movies and I needed all kinds of, I was on the hunt for lists of great movies to see.

And I finished the AFI 100 list, which was, you know, a very helpful one.

Then I got the Ballad of the 400, from which they chose the 100.

And then something led me to check out the list of all the Oscar nominees and winners, because I knew I wasn't going to get through that one as fast, and I was excited to have an additional roadmap.

We

have covered the AFI Top 100, and now we are checking off movies from three major lists.

The Letterboxd Top 250 Films with the Most Fans, the IMDb Top 250, and the New York Times 1000 Essential Films.

And we will also be chasing our own curiosity in the scary season of October as we look at the witch.

This is a podcast about good movies, critical hits, fan favorites, must-sees, and in case you missed thems.

And Amy, we will also be chasing our own curiosity, too, with a movie that should be on all of those lists.

But yeah, sure.

Let's turn the podcast into an AFI Top 100 list one year.

We could get through it.

We could do like 10 of them in

I'm Paul Scheer.

Right.

There's the Simpsons episode, but there's also the, like, the AFI 100 of it all, right? Like, all the clips and all the quotes and all that kind of stuff that, like, really threw me for a loop of, like, when things happen, you know? Like, you see it in the Simpsons episode.

Like, Stella's not a character in the Simpsons episode.

Right.

The taking of Pelham 123.

What else has the director done? I mean, other than on the waterfront.

So I put On the Waterfront because so we did an episode that was like the AFI 100 and kind of like looked at what was parodied and what wasn't.

On the Waterfront, they never touched, never touched, which seems crazy because it's like it's one of those movies that like I could have been a contender is like one of those lines that you're like, oh, of course, The Simpsons has parodied that.
