And, um, as I mentioned earlier, Camden was a guest lecturer this year at our, uh, Rome Scholars and Leaders Network, and he, he delivered two lectures, both having to do with the doctrine of grace, um, but also having to do with the Roman Catholic theologian Karl-
You could con- definitely call him a, an evangelical expert on, uh, on Karl Rahner.
And, uh, [clears throat] you know, one question we need to address here at the outset is, okay, why Karl Rahner? And, and here at the Reformission Initiative, we always, uh, talk about the fact that if we want to understand modern-day Roman Catholicism, uh, we have to understand as best we can, uh, Vatican II.
The Second Vatican Council took place from 1962 to '65, and the theology that emerged out of Vatican II.
Without that, you really are not going to, to grasp or understand, uh, Roman Catholicism.
And, and, I mean, you know, the, the things we hear today, uh, the, what people say, um, discussions with Roman Catholic friends and family members.
Uh, and so Karl Rahner is important because really to understand Karl Rahner, uh, is to understand, at least in part, and I would say a big important part, uh, Roman, um, Vatican II, uh, Roman Catholicism.
There were some key architects that emerged, uh, in the Roman Catholic Church, key theologians that shaped Vatican II, uh, and made the church what it is today, and, and Karl Rahner is certainly at the top, uh, of that, of that list.
Uh, Camden, I would imagine you'd agree that it's an uncontested fact that Rahner was one of the most effe- even, uh, influential theologians at, uh, Vatican II, and his thought continues to be influential to- today.
So again, just the timeframe we're talking about with this theologian, we, we've already spoken of Vatican II, so that gives us an idea.
But Camden, just on a biographical level, just some highlights, what can you tell us about...
