Talked about Movie Props: Most iconic, most expensive, and the most interesting stories behind some of the most recognized onscreen pieces.
One thing that I have said before is that I think for a movie to be truly excellent, it has to have an excellent story.
I have watched movies that had really great cinematography and were just really breathtaking to look at, but they couldn't in my opinion, be an excellent film just because the story lacked and there really wasn't enough there to make me remember the movie 10 years from now.
For example, The Revenant isn't 10 years old, but this is a perfect example of this film.
I believe the DP even won an Oscar that year.
It was great, but the story was forgettable.
There really wasn't a lot there that I felt like I need to revisit this movie every year.
So that being said, there are films that stand alone because they have great cinematography.
They have a very impressive set.
They have an excellent cast, right? The most memorable films are the ones that tie in all these things together.
But what about the little details? There are movies that I think personally have gotten every single thing you can get right in a movie, right? And like, for example, Pirates of the Caribbean, that's a film I think that got every single thing it could possibly get correct, correct in a film.
It had an excellent set.
It had fantastic cast.
It had memorable lines.
The story is iconic.
The props are fun.
So props are a small detail.
I can't say they make or break a movie.
But we can certainly talk about some of the most iconic and most important props in film history, because just like anything that makes an iconic movie, there are some of those details that are worth mentioning, at least for people like me who love movies.
And by now, three years in, you guys know I love movies, love talking about those kind of things.
Props are the details that people remember.
And we'll talk about some of the most iconic ones and that'll kind of make sense as to why.
Everybody can think of a prop they've seen in movies that they've seen in stores or recreated thousands of times.
That's why some of these props have become iconic in their own right.
