Sleepless in Seattle, A League of Their Own, these are things that, you know, there are ...

I always think of acting careers and go, you know, yeah, there are Academy Awards, but if you're in that movie that someone's watched 400 times that they turn on when they have the flu, like that, to me, is better than any Academy Award.

So would you ever be interested in doing some- like a project like that again in some capacity? Because you really so perfectly straddle the line between emotional but comedic, and I just, I love it so much.

Well, thank you so much.

[laughs] Like, that's all you have to say.

But like, I guess what I'm, like, Oliver in the chat, uh, "Azzo gets the Oscar for best supporting actor in a drama."

[laughs]

Yes.

Especially enjoyed seeing Sam Rockwell and Steve Buscemi in it as well.

Do you think that Steve Buscemi or Sam Rockwell could sort of join the Oscar race? Or do you think it's sort of Malkovich, his show? I

think definitely Malkovich.

He was the big VIP, I think, because there was a lot of other performances that are kind of more showy this year, whether it's Matt Damon or another performance I'll talk about that I saw.

First of all, I love Julianne Moore.

I feel like I tell this story all the time, but Far From Heaven was one of those movies that I saw that really helped me fall in love with movies.

And she was like that actress where I was like, when is she going to get her Oscar? And that was such a big moment for me.

So I'm so excited that she may be sort of back in the race.

Yeah, I agree with that.

Interesting, there was a kind of wrinkle that was thrown into the Oscar running of the movie online, which said there was like a fake news announcement about John Malkovich doing a play in Tel Aviv.

Did you see this?

Yeah, but he denied that he was doing it, right? Yeah,

So I do, I appreciate the bravura filmmaking that's going on here.

And that's why I ultimately liked the movie.

But I do think that Pattinson, if we're talking about Oscars, in The Odyssey, he's playing a more obvious villain.

And that's the type of person that maybe Oscar voters would go for.

And everyone is expecting that.

You can bet that's going to be in the Oscar shortlist.

That's very interesting.

And one of Hollywood's and European cinema's most glamorous couples, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz were in Venice as well.

And we had Robert Pattinson in this sort of fabulous, slightly baggy white suit.

But my favourite bit of Dior this year was John Malkovich's near Shakespearean rough, which he wore to the premiere of Wild Horse Nine.

And I think if anything, it was like a set in your stall out for this is my Oscar bid performance.

There it is, a rough performance.

Suzanne Beer is kind of a great director for this project.

Not only is she an Academy Award winner, she directed Sandra Bullock in Bird Box and she directed Nicole Kidman in the Netflix series A Perfect Couple.

So she kind of brings this frothy, fantastical, almost unrealistic world to this.

And that's what it is.

Now, I have to ask because when I see a lot of films, we're now going into that season where people start talking about the Oscars.

Has this film been Oscar qualified yet?

Yes.

We are officially Oscar qualified, which is fantastic.

We had a run at Holly Shorts.

We had a theatrical run there.

And the scene with the toilet scene, when she wets herself, her face...

As Kate Winslet said in the short extras with Ricky Gervais, if you want an Oscar, play a part of somebody that's disabled in some way.

Oh.

Could not agree more.

Three years in a row, it was someone with, you know, mentally disabled or physically disabled...

Well, I remember we did do that.

What we should do is do a podcast on every Oscar winner and whether they were deserving or not, and then break it down into what was the main part that got them their Oscar? We'll do

a show.

Wow.

But yeah, I knew of this film, particularly during its time or during its Oscar run.

I don't think I was much into period dramas at that point to really kind of give it the time of day.

And maybe that was the impression that has lasted with me all these years up until Andy brings it up for a movie he wants to talk about.

The explosions don't sound like explosions in other movies.

I mean, God, they dug so deep to make this feel like auditorily like it does.

I think it won the Oscar for sound design.

I said, I think one of the Oscars it won was for sound design.
