2749 - ICE Shooting & Public Executions w/ Heather 'Digby' Parton, Darializa Avila Chevalier

We're gonna obviously talk about this, uh, with Digby, but I think what we're starting to see is an emerging, o- one part of the Trump administration's strategy, particularly over the past couple of days, as to, you know, what they're gonna do to attempt to win the election.

There, I think there is probably a parallel strategy on what they're going to do to inhibit the votes, either after the fact or prior to the fact of the voting.

I think that's a separate, uh, uh, and, and non- these things are not mutually exclusive, of course.

But, um, there are reports out of California that ICE has been told, "Get anybody." I imagine it is, uh, they're not giving those, um, o- orders in California and nowhere else in the country.

In the past, uh, 36 hours, uh, the, oh, oh, Trump administration has announced a public execution and, um, we have started a military blockade of, a naval blockade of Cuba, uh, stopping o- oil from flowing in.

Um, all of these things seem to be, uh, cr- trying to create an environment, I don't know that it's gonna work, but you remember, uh, Donald Trump when he did his Bain, um, uh, his, uh, acceptance speech at the, I think it was the 2016-

... uh, 2016, uh, RNC.

He presented this vision of a, a completely out of control America.

Um, and, and the idea is that he's the strong man to come and do it.

Now, in this instance, he's actually in charge, but I think the theory is probably the same.

Yes.

Uh-

Create the chaos so that you can justify authoritarian actions, and we've been saying that this is likely going to be his tactic, especially as his popularity tanks, um, for, for months at this point.

Uh, y- did you mention the incitement in Minneapolis as well? Right? Like, he's also-

Uh, he, he's also now basically said all the Somalis in, uh, i- in Minneapolis are, uh, taking over and, uh, need-

And people should do something about it

... and they're all criminals.

People should do something about it.

We'll talk about all these things, uh, uh, with, uh, with, uh, Heather Partin in a moment because it is, I believe, these are all g- need to be seen in their totality as a- an electoral bid as it were.

But in the meantime, um, in New York City, in the southernmost part of the Bronx, right across the, uh, river from Upper Manhattan, um, a man was in his car with his five-year-old, uh, child.

Oscar Bejal is his name, 28-year-old man.

He has a, um, a, a criminal record.

Uh, and supposedly this was a targeted, um, uh, uh, ICE action.

They were out there with long rifles and apparently one of the, um, one of, at least one of the agents fired seven rounds in or at the car in what is an incredibly busy intersection pedestrian area.
