Governor Abbott said he got the news from Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen.

The award was approved under the State Border Security Reinforcement Fund, a provision added to the One Big Beautiful Bill by Texas Senator John Cornyn.

Since 2021, Texas has spent over $11 billion on border security.

And so what I would say is that I'm not trying to make this partisan.

Obviously, we don't know what happened.

And that will be a very thorough investigation, especially with Mark Wayne heading up the DHS agency, but what I would also like to point out is that there has to be cooperation for not just the officers at ICE, but also, too, for the individuals that are being detained if that is a concern for the city that ICE is operating in.

I will continue to obviously ensure that there's oversight and accountability.

It appears to me the press is starting to develop a little bit of a pushback and a spine.
