On the DSR Daily for Thursday, we break down Trump walking back the live-streaming of the execution of the Fort Hood shooter, new details on the criminal probe into Ilhan Omar, Elon Musk and other…
Minnah SteinHostPresident Trump announced that the Pentagon will no longer live stream the scheduled December 3rd firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan following widespread bipartisan criticism.
Although Trump suggested a public broadcast could have served as a strong deterrent, he acknowledged that well-meaning people would prefer not to watch the execution, noting that victims' immediate families may still choose to attend in person.
The decision reverses a controversial Pentagon plan championed by Pete Hegseth, which critics and Vice President JD Vance warned could promote radicalization or serve as propaganda.
Yeah, I mean, we're living in this era of, like, so much hideousity that when they, you know, you reduce the amount of potential hideousity by a half of 1%, people think of it as a triumph.
I mean, the president's decision not to do this included words, as, as implied in your summary, in which he kind of, you know, indicated he would have liked to do it.
Um, but, you know, it was public pressure that kept him from doing this barbarous, horrible thing.
Um, you know, there was a poll that came out today that showed eight out of 10 Americans didn't want him to do that.
I- it just goes to show there's always 20% of Americans who want to do something hideous.
Uh, 53% of Americans do support his execution, um, uh, which shows, sort of shows a split on the death penalty issue.
Uh, so personally, I don't think that's the way this thing ought to be handled either.
Uh, but I do think there is one other story about this which is kind of curious, which is this is just the latest in a long, long line of really terrible Pete Hegseth ideas.
Who has alienated the brass, who has alienated his own staff, who has come up with ridiculous criteria for things in the Department of Defense, who's given away, uh, secret information over a, uh, over a, a, a social media, uh, you know, a, a thread that included a journalist, uh, who, you know, has been the advocate of one of the most disastrously ill-conceived wars ever.
I mean, dude shouldn't have been hired, but dude should have been fired, like, 25 times.
If Pete Hegseth had been Patty Hegseth, he would have been fired, 'cause Trump has no problem firing women.
Uh, and yet here is another disastrous Pete Hegseth idea that Trump has to back away from because Democrats and Republicans who can't agree on anything agreed this was horrible.
