Life Update: What Peru Taught Me About Life (And My Next Chapter)

So an exciting thing that's going on in my office is that, uh, just a couple weeks ago, uh, we have a new laser in our office.

Uh, it is our first fractional CO2 laser.

Uh, it's called the Tetra, uh, from a company called Cartessa.

And what this is, is, you know, one of the things that we have in my practice, we have pretty much everything other than a fractional laser.

So we have IPL.

IPL is great for getting rid of the dark spots, no downtime.

Um, we have laser hair removal.

We got Dialase, which is like the latest and greatest in laser hair removal.

Um, we have got laser vein removal.

We have got cellulite treatments.

We have got SculpSure, which is using a laser to melt fat.

We have MiraDry, which helps, uh, permanently stop sweating of your armpits.

Um, we have got a bunch of other things too, but one thing we've never had is a fractional CO2 laser.

Well, we have Morpheus8.

That was the one I forgot.

We have Morpheus8 radiofrequency microneedling, but one thing we've never had is a fractional laser.

So what is a fractional laser? Uh, basically the old style CO2 lasers would literally burn all the skin off your face.

When you have a laser, the laser basically works by creating heat in a chromophore.

The chromophore basically is a color that the laser is attracted to, and when the laser, um, basically encounters that color, it creates heat based, you know, on, with that color.

So for example, there's some lasers where the chromophore is red.

Vascular lasers, okay? Where you can, if somebody's got like rosacea, then like a pulsed dye laser, you can zap the red of rosacea and that can help take it down because the target is red.

When you're looking at IPL, that target is kind of more of a brownish color.

That's why it works well for dark spots, for age spots and sunspots.

Um, with CO2 lasers, the color, believe it or not, is water.

Yes, water does have a color on the spectrum.
