A few months ago, Lovis joined Adrian Day for dinner in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the time, most investors were talking about AI, rate cuts, and the usual market narratives. (This was Feb 27th… and…
Adrian DayGuestJasonHostLovisHostAnd that wraps up our main conversation.
But we're not done yet.
We're going into overtime, where Jason and I unpack some insights, reflect on what just happened, and connect a few dots.
And go.
All right.
Jason, what'd you think?
Oh, it's always good, right, with Adrian, and, uh, I love hearing his, his points of view.
Sometimes it helps con- confirm my own biases.
Sometimes he, he has different views from me, so in some aspects.
So, uh, was, was really fun as usual.
How about for you?
Yeah.
I, I really admire anyone that can, um, s- so naturally bring, like, uh, how, how to say it? Like, there's like some aspects of, uh, geopolitics, history, uh, markets and, you know, to me these are all, like, distinct different topics, but I'm sure...
But I think in his brain they're not.
They kind of blend together and they, they, uh, interact and I think he just does a wonderful job- ... breaking it down in that sense.
And yet, you know, just looking back on a obviously long career that he's had already, um, I think it's a very valuable perspective that he shares.
And it's, I mean, it's like almost aspirational for me to think like, maybe one day I can be cool enough [laughs] have a, have a, have like, uh, what did Casey say? Have like distinguished myself enough to also be able to, to pull, um, knowledge and facts out like that, you know, in a very organic way.
I, uh, I was actually surprised a bit.
Our conversation took a, a long look at China, which I didn't really expect for today, but I really liked, I really like-- I love that we did it 'cause it was so, it was very organic, and it was almost he, he used the chance to interview you a little bit, uh, which I thought was great.
Um, what did you think about that?
Yeah.
I, I didn't come into it prepared, but I guess being l- having been in China for the last eight to ten, 10 weeks now, I think, uh, just was, was pretty cool to be able to, uh, distill and share, right, whatever I've been...
the impressions I've been collecting while I've been here.
Uh, yeah, I hope it didn't, um, hijack the conversation [chuckles] 'cause every time when I'm talking about China, I tend to get a bit carried away, right? Uh, yeah.
