So Evil Dead: The Musical is a musical with music by Frank Cipolla, Christopher Bond, Melissa Morris, and George Reinblatt with book and lyrics by George Rei- George Reinblatt based on Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy.
Um, with the approval of both Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, the show was first staged as a workshop in Toronto in August of 2003.
The same team remounted the musical in Toronto that October for an additional three weeks.
The show was presented in July 2004 at the 22nd Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, where it really, really did well.
A little, little behind there for the Halloween folks, but who cares? Um, it ran, um, performing eight times a week at the New- New World Stages until February 17th, 2007.
It's a short run, but it was really effective and has a big cult audience, and as always, does very well in regional productions.
The show was well r- well received, and Anita Gates from The New York Times hailed it as the next Rocky Horror.
The plot of Evil Dead: The Musical is five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons.
It's all up to Ash, a housewares employee turned demon-killing hero, and his trusty chainsaw to save the day.

I haven't actually seen the first one, and Jess is like, "Oh, that's my favorite one," so.
