Sherrod Blakely and Gary Washburn are back with another edition of the Big 3 NBA Podcast to discuss the latest scuttle around the Celtics and the latest news across the league. They react to comments…
So there's a lot of questions around the league, not only in Boston, but around the league with some of these damn teams.
What are they going to look like? Washington, are they going to be better with DeBanza? And Anthony Davis and Trey Young, there's a bunch of questions around the league.
And with this new anti-taking rule, there's not going to be a lot of teams that are just going to be trying to lose.
The days where you could just have like a Charlotte on a Tuesday kind of game, that's not happening this year for sure.
And when you talk about the Eastern Conference, you know, obviously we're getting – as we get closer and closer to training camp, you're seeing more and more prediction and, you know, prognosticators about how the Celtics and other teams are going to do.
But the thing that I thought was interesting was, you know, there was a – the Celtics are – The ESPN poll had them finishing with 48 wins, which I thought was an interesting number.
And Gary, when you think about this Celtics team going into the season, would you say that they are more or less likely to hit the 50-win plateau?
Okay, that's interesting because they won 56 last year with Jalen and with Jason missing the first 63 games, 62, 63 games.
But the East, you had Brooklyn, you had Washington, you had a lot of teams that were tanking.
So the East overall, in the league overall, is going to be tougher because teams are not going to be encouraged to tank.
And a lot of these teams, after this fruitful draft, have said, okay, 26-27 is when we start trying to win.
Indiana, obviously, with Halliburton coming back, and they signed Kelly Oubre, and they got Siakam.
