Ep. 120. Numbers 04 - Why Did God Destroy Korah and 250 Leaders?

So if we look at the first 10 chapters of Numbers, God's preparing them to leave Mount Sinai.

They get on the road and immediately Numbers 11, 12, 13, 14. it's all grumbling.

You've got Miriam and Aaron who come and they're grumbling at Moses for appointing or marrying a Cushite and appointing these elders.

And they're coming after Joshua and Caleb.

And our last episode, they get right up to the promised land and it's like, here's your great reward.

And they're like, ah, we can't defeat those guys.

And then they grumble at God and Moses and for not delivering them into it without having to fight for it, everything cowardly.

And so that generation is going to die in the wilderness.

God has to step up to defend Joshua and Caleb from people who are coming to stone them.

And you're like, these are like...

Get serious fast.

These are intense and messy people.

And so you would think, okay, after those stories, like hopefully the people have gotten it.

And then today you just find...

The rebellious spirit's not taming in light of these judgments that God has had to come and defend his people.

The rebellious spirit actually grows, and you're going to see in today's episode, they're full-on coup d'etat mode.

And so we're going to read the last part of Numbers 15 here because it sets up the basis for why Korah is going to rebel.

And so in Numbers 15, verse 37, it said, The Lord said to Moses, Speak to the people of Israel and tell them to make tassels on the corner of their garments throughout their generations and to put a cord of blue on the tassel on each corner.

And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the Lord, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to horror after." so you shall remember and do all my commandments and to be holy to your God.

So now all of a sudden you've gone from the high priest is decked out in a specific outfit, right? Then the priest are decked out in specific outfits.
