Let me read that verse.

The Lord said to Aaron, go into the desert to meet Moses.

So he met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him.

Moses was thinking, God, you're asking me now to come to the middle lane.

Okay, fine.

I'll bring you a support person.

Aaron will speak for you.

Okay, fine.

That's how sin entered the universe.

Aaron, number two in Israel, second only to Moses, made a golden calf for Israel to worship, while Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments from God.

Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron.

She nursed a wicked attitude, and as a result, she was afflicted with leprosy by God.

Now, these are significant falls, each individual highly esteemed of God.

Let's read it together.

Then Moses and Aaron fell face down in front of the whole Israelite assembly gathered there.

Joshua, verse 6 of chapter 14, Joshua, son of Nun and Caleb, son of Jephunim, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite assembly, I just love this story.

So all 12 spies saw the exact same thing.

Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and he scattered it on the water and made the children of Israel drink it.

And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people do to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them? So Aaron said, do not let the anger of my Lord become hot.

You know the people that they are set on evil.

For they said to me, make us gods that shall go before us.

Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained, for Aaron had not restrained them to their shame among their enemies, then Moses stood at the entrance of the camp and said, Whoever is on the Lord's side, come to me.

And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.

And I gave Esau the hill country of Seir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt.

And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I pledged Egypt with what I did in the midst of it, And afterward, I brought you out.

Then I brought your fathers out to Egypt, and you came to the sea.

And the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea.

As for the bones of Joseph, which the people of Israel brought up from Egypt, They buried them at Shechem in the piece of land that Jacob bought from the sons of Haman, the father of Shechem, for a hundred pieces of money.

It became an inheritance of the descendants of Joseph.

And Eliezer, the son of Aaron, died, and they buried him at Kiber, the town of Phinehas' son, which had been given him in the hill country of Ephraim.

This is the word of the Lord.

And the Lord said, what do you mean? How am I going to go on? Let me.

Kind of scroped Moses' fear a little bit.

He said, I'm going to give you Aaron.

You don't think you talk good? Okay.

In spite of God's anger and frustration with Moses, he provides his concession.

He says, quote, what about your brother Aaron, the Levite? I know he can speak well.

He will speak to the people for you.

Exodus chapter 4, verses 14 to 17.

This is a reference to Psalm 110, verse 4, in which King David is a priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Since, according to Christian tradition laid out in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus is not descended from Aaron, the brother of Moses, but rather from King David, the author of Hebrews suggests that Jesus can be a priest and a king.

Melchizedek's miraculous conception in 2 Enoch seems to parallel Jesus' miraculous birth, and one manuscript variant of 2 Enoch describes Melchizedek as the word and power of God, who will come to earth to enact miracles.

Which, some scholars suggest, might be evidence that the text either emerged from a Christian community, or at least was tampered with by Christians in later centuries.
