Dear listener, Sairam and welcome to our radio series in which a divine discourse by Bhagawan is played in small parts and following each part, a short discussion is undertaken to reflect on the message.

Dear listener, the discourses that are taken up for study in this program are from the series of discourses on the theme Bhaja Govindam.

This is the sixth part of the discussion on the discourse delivered on June 2nd, 1973.

Offering our most loving pranams at Bhagawan's Lotus Feet, dear listeners, we welcome you to another episode of Shravanam, Mananam, Nididhyasanam, a program where we listen to Swami's discourses.

And we have a virtual satsang with all of you.

And we are ever so grateful for the company that you all give us week after week.

And thanks to this opportunity, we get the blessing of going through Swami's discourses in this particular edition of Shravanam Mananam Nididhyasanam.

We've been going through the 1973 Samashavas.

A set of discourses that Swami gave more than half a century ago.

What a blessing it is to be able to listen to these discourses again and listen to it in a manner where we are able to pay attention to every word that Swami is giving.

And of course we do pray that it merely is not time spent in just listening.

That listening also reflects as contemplation and eventually the message does get absorbed.

We've completed 12 discourses in the series.

We are in the middle of the 13th discourse.

We have a couple of more clips before we complete this discourse.

And as we've seen every discourse in the series, barring one discourse probably or two discourses, the first one was an introduction and there was another general discourse.

But all other discourses are based on one of the verses of the Bhajagovindam.

And each of those verses connote one aspect of spiritual life.

And this particular verse in the 13th discourse is primarily about detachment.

And more than detachment, the willingness to let go of certain pleasures and certain worldly aspirations when one turns to a spiritual path.

And the analogy that is used here is that of a lotus leaf.

Swami gives the analogy of the lotus being born of the pond but still being detached from it and also the analogy of a drop of water that quivers on the leaf.

The leaf is never touched by the water.

So that is the main analogy through which Swami is narrating and explaining this concept to us.

But more than that, the beautiful thing about this discourse is the Many short sweet stories that Swami has narrated in trying to convey the various aspects of this dimension of spirituality.
