Ravana

As a quick example, Rama, the hero of the epic called the Ramayana, is understood to be an avatar of the god Vishnu in several Hindu versions of the Ramayana.

In this story, Rama is the crown prince of the city of Ayodhya and defeats the main antagonist of the story, the multi-headed king Ravana.

Now, Avatara is often translated as incarnation, though this sometimes leads to surface level comparisons with Jesus and the doctrine of incarnation according to Christianity.

But the two concepts are very different.

When he says he comes into being through my creative power, Krishna is explaining that he can spontaneously manifest in the physical world by his own divine will.

And he does this with a purpose, in order to restore dharma, or social and cosmic order, that would otherwise collapse without his intervention.

Generally, this means defeating some sort of antagonist that has thrown the world into chaos, like the King Ravana and the Ramayana.

Notice that Krishna explicitly says that he's unborn and imperishable.

In a like manner, the mighty Kichaka, who tried to seduce Draupadi and Ravana, who attempted to gain over Sita, were punished for their crimes.

These and many others fell by reason of their pleasures.

Kichaka was killed by Bhima, who assumed the disguise of Draupadi.

For this story the Mahabharata should be referred to.

The story of Ravana is told in the Ramayana, which with the Mahabharata form the two great epic poems of the Hindus.

The latter was written by Vaisya, and the former by Valmiki.

Though he saw me, Rama strung his bow without any fear.

cause his desire, Ravana, Hiranyakashipu, how they all, you know, went through, committed sins because of their desires.

Duryodhana, in spite of his shastric knowledge, so Duryodhana, in spite of his shastric knowledge, committed sins.

Ravana had the same problem that in spite of being a great Shivavakta, he was a great Vedadhyayi.

He was a great Samaveda singer.

He was able to please Bhagawan Shiva himself.

So it's sort of like he will often battle against Indra or he will battle against Kshatriya.

Vishnu and Ravana is on the evil side, the demon side, and then the other gods are on the good side.

So he's sort of like the general of the gods on the demon side.
