Adam AaronsonGuestTony JonesGuestRBHostabsolutely man and once again guys if you are in the chat make sure you like this show subscribe to the channel we'll be breaking it down every single week so i guess adam let me get your reaction on just like everything with this sixers team right like just a few months ago we're sitting here and know they go for another second round exit things are looking bleak you know daryl morey's no longer the president of operations and we're like where do they go from here two top heavy contracts and in a couple months they have jalen brown and lebron james i guess like what's your overall thoughts on just how insane this has been the last six weeks

It is about as shocking of an offseason that I've seen for any team, let alone this one, especially given, like you said, just how sort of apathetic people had become when it came to the Sixers over the last couple of years.

And it felt like you said, like they were sort of stuck with the contracts that they had.

And to now be in a situation where I think most people would say they have the most talent in the NBA, at least historically.

Not even to mention the fact that they became that team by getting Jalen Brown, who they've been going up against for 10 years, and LeBron James, who's arguably the best player of all time.

Like, I was scrolling through some of my old stories from May and June earlier today, and it's like, oh, should they bring back Kelly Oubre or Quentin Grimes if they can only keep one? you know like oh man like dean wade that's a big like home run free agency acquisition and that is still a big acquisition but now you know the guy who was supposed to be starting it before playing huge minutes is going to be one of their top bench guys instead and there are these two obviously massive storylines in jalen and lebron and I'm just excited to unpack all of it.

And I almost feel like the insanity of Jalen Brown being traded to the Sixers of all teams has now gotten overshadowed by what transpired with LeBron a few weeks later.

Plus, you know, what does Joel Embiid look like? How does he feel about all this? We still haven't heard from him.

Tyrese Maxey is probably going to have a different role than he's ever had in the NBA.

It might look more similar to the first few years of his career playing alongside James Harden.

And then there's Vijay Edgecombe, who had one of the best rookie seasons in Sixers history as a 20-year-old starter who was a good offensive player and a good defensive player as a rookie guard.

So there's just so much here, and that's what's going to be fun about this, I hope, is we're going to have a lot of time and a lot of pods to really unpack all this.
Yeah, the thing that was shocking for me, there were two things that were shocking for me.
That legitimately floored me because I just couldn't believe, number one, it came out of nowhere, but you couldn't believe when you go and you analyze it, it's hard to wrap your mind out of Boston is willingly gonna trade this guy to someone in the division, much less somebody in the conference.
Because you trade somebody like Jalen Brown, who sticks an MVP voting, average 28 points a game, second team All-NBA, was really the driving force behind that team being a top three seed in the Eastern Conference.
Ideally, you want to trade that guy to the other conference, so you only play against him twice a year.
You know, not only are you playing against him now twice a year, you're playing against him four times a year.
