We open the episode and see Salt Lake City in its true 2026 form, dry, brown, and sad looking.
And in solidarity of the opening scene, we arrive at a dry, brown, sad-looking dive bar with Kwai and Ashley.
They're at a bar.
Um, it's called A Bar Named Sue, one of the most divey of dive bars in the entire Salt Lake Valley.
In a surprising twist, Lisa and Heather are shopping with each other.
I don't know, that kinda caught me off guard.
I didn't expect to see them together doing anything.
Um, Heather asks Lisa if it's Oscar season, because Lisa is showing off some fashion and mentions that the designer, who we don't know, curates looks for the Oscars.
And Lisa just casually brings up that she normally goes to the Oscars after Heather asks if she's going.
Then she misspoke, I guess, because when Heather says, "Normally you go to the Oscars?" Lisa's like, "Normally I get invited, yeah." Miss Lisa, baby gorgeous, come on now.
I adore you.
But if you were invited, we all know you'd go.
Um, back at the bar, Kwai pulls up on, on a motorcycle.
Um, so Kwai's bike that she pulled up on is named Purdy Gertie, because we all know that bikes are given birth names upon purchase.
And then Whitney tries to be funny and says, "She rides her bitch." And then Kwai says, "Whitney, you're my bitch now." Um, some subtle foreshadowing there.
You'll see.
You'll, uh, you'll understand that later.
Um, Heather, now back to the shopping, Heather says she wants Lisa's ticket if she isn't gonna go to the Oscars, but Lisa's like, "Well, we're going to San Francisco next week." More foreshadowing of where the episode is headed.
And typically I don't get, like, into the back and forth of the scenes in the opening scenes, but this kinda felt appropriate for where everything ends up at the end of the episode.
It's a whole night and day difference, for sure, 'cause you have, like, this chill, calm, friendly back and forth.
It was too much, though.
And then, yeah, you'll see.
We are two weeks after Robert Jr.'s homecoming service, and Mary lets us know in her confessional she just kinda snapped into survival mode after he passed.
