I'm, I'm, I'm from British background, uh, British, Scottish, um, Irish, Welsh, all that area of the world.

I mean, I did my 23andMe, so I know where my genetics are from to make sure.

But anyways, this is a, a, a phenomena that when I was growing up as a child that we had this family spirit guide called Old Glegly that would show up and help people out or, you know, sometimes save people's lives, you know, throughout our family bloodline.

And I just thought that this was a, uh, a cool kinda thing that, you know, maybe I'll see Old Glegly, maybe I won't.

It took more than a month for investigators to arrest Koberger, a graduate student in criminology at Washington State University, located just a few miles from Moscow.

Investigators identified Koberger using genetic genealogy, a process that takes DNA evidence and compares it to genetic information from family members that may be found on genealogy sites like Ancestry.com or 23andMe.

Investigators used DNA to identify possible family connections, which, combined with other evidence, like the white Hyundai Elantra seen near the scene, can help narrow down a suspect.

And there's no doubt that they used all of it.

They were okay with me taking 23andMe and searching for relatives if that's something I wanted to pursue.

They encouraged me to research as much as I could about adoption in China.

in the Chinese heritage, and also to process emotions in a way that felt right to me.

So when I was building my first company and doing research, um, at 18, I was, it was like 2014, 2015, direct consumer genetic testing just became really big.

So you would see 23andMe selling these direct-

... to consumer tests where you can find out your ancestry.

Can't be great for the psyche, for sure.

No, that's one hell of a 23andMe.

They find out that they have 300 siblings.

Like the Vince Vaughn movie back in the day.

It's a DNA test.

It's the DNA test you get if you spit in a test tube for 23andMe or something like that.

It's the same type of test.

So they take the sample and there's a special solvent that will dissolve the DNA if there is any and separate it from the other material.
