EXTRA: Dave Birkett talks Detroit Lions, Terrion Arnold & more

They've certainly made an attempt to get younger this year.

So how different does the team feel from what you've been seeing from 12 months ago?

Yeah, I mean, it's the same in a lot of ways because it's still Jared Goff and Shamir Gibbs and Amon Ross St.

Brown and some of the star players that you've come to expect on both sides of the ball.

But I think you're right that there has been a lot of change.

They've gotten younger.

The offensive line is...

Even though there's a couple of returning pieces, it's going to look completely different this year.

A couple of new starters, obviously, at center.

There's a new starter.

Who knows what happens at left guard? I would guess Christian Mahogany returns or wins the starting job.

I don't know that for sure.

Panay Sewell moving to the left side, new starting right tackle.

So a lot of new faces up there.

I think the expectations are the same, though.

And that means they were high going into last season.

They certainly didn't live up to them.

I think they're going to be high again this year.

They have the type of talent on their roster that should be able to compete for an NFC North title.

And just whether or not they're able to do that is going to depend on health and a few other factors that haven't necessarily gone their way the last couple of years.

Now the injury bug already biting them with Kendrick Law, etc.

Get ready for it one more time.

In terms of what you might have learned about them so far from OTAs, etc.

and minicamp, is there something about this team that fans maybe are not talking about enough? Is there something that you've seen with them that needs to get a little bit more light shone on it?

Yeah, you know, I'll let me explain this as simple as I can.
