Ben Johnson

They're very expansive extroverts, and they are power players.

You know, Ben's got that huge serve.

Ooh.

So it should, it should be a good match.

Um, again, this is a situation, um, where, you know, you're getting three points at home.

Um, the Bears are everyone's darling this year.

You know, obviously everybody loves Ben Johnson.

Everyone predicts a really big, big year for Kaleb Williams.

Like, the best coaches do that.

I think of Ben Johnson in that way.

Special coaches can beat special players with great scheme.

It happens all the time.

But it's Jalen Carter and the Philadelphia Eagles last year on prime time.

The Bears had a plan, and they ran straight through the Eagles defense, right past Jalen Carter because the plan worked.

Ben Johnson's plan for Jalen Carter worked.

Special players matter.

Uh, really high total, as you can imagine here, week one, with what we think those offenses are gonna look like.

You expect offense when you think of Ben Johnson, and when you think of the Chicago Bears.

And what, what'd he say? Paraphrasing, "I wanna have the highest scoring offense in the history of the NFL"? Woo.

Okay, bold words.

So that's my feel right now.

Bears win, perhaps not cover.

Uh, but I do think Ben Johnson's group does find a way to go ahead and win down there in Charlotte

CharlotteI mentioned how, you know, the Bears just finished so strongly to win that division.

They lost 10 first-round picks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the rights to have a guy that created a scandal and won two playoff series and played no games? Mm, not so great." Either way, I just like the Bears.

Year two, Ben Johnson.

Year three, Caleb Williams.

I'm totally buying the hype on the Bears this season.

Caleb Williams is better.

Ben Johnson has them believing, but not that they can beat the Lions, 'cause they haven't done it yet.

Give me the Lions.

All right, December the 6th, we move out into December.

Yeah, yeah, crazy, right? Um, but I think that, you know, the Bears got to show me they can beat the Lions.

I, I'm just not a believer.

I think they have Ben Johnson's number.

The Lions are gonna win that game, and then you're gonna ask me about the Packers-

So he's got definitely some positives going into week one.

Now for Caleb, second-year Ben Johnson's offense...

And some of those weapons were young.

want as many bites at the apple as possible.

And everybody believes that the Chicago Bears are the better team.

Maybe it's the Ben Johnson effect.

Maybe it's the handful of injuries.

Maybe it's the fact that Lee Hunter, the rookie, is starting at nose tackle for the Panthers.

Yeah, I think it's an intriguing football game.

Watching Caleb Williams play with Ben Johnson calling the plays is a fun watch.

I'm with you as far as the defense is concerned, though.

You're talking about a team that feasted on turnovers.

I heard yesterday when they were trailing late in the fourth quarter and came back to win, and they won six of those games like that.

So I don't know if that's something that you can necessarily rely on, but I also think that...

You know, Caleb Williams should continue to progress and hopefully clean up some of the stuff, like some of the easy stuff that I'm sure drives Ben Johnson crazy when he dials up the right play and he misses a wide open throw.

Well, just with experience, you figure that would happen.
