Let's start doing some blowing.

Here we go.

Blank, I've set out on a quest to play the games that made gaming what it is today.

That being said, I need help deciding my next title.

So I'll ask you, dear podcast host, play one, erase one from the backlog forever, or revisit, as in pick a different title from the same series to play instead.

Mega Man, Super Mario World, and Super Metroid.

My next play is in your hands." So I gotta play one, pick a different game from that series, and drop one from the backlog.

I gotta say, uh, listen, I love Mega Man, but if your j- if your primary focus is to just play the games that made gaming what it is today, you gotta drop Mega Man.

I love him, but Mario and Metroid had a lot bigger influence on gaming today than Mega Man did.

So dro- ugh, I hate to say it, but by your parameters, we're dropping Mega Man.

Uh, I would ...

Hmm.

I could go two ways here.

I could say play Super Metroid, because a lot of people still consider it the best Metroid, and then just re- uh, switch to, like, Mario 3 or Mario Brothers 1 or Mario 64, all of which I think had big impacts on the future of gaming.

Or I could say play Super Mario World, and I could drop Super Metroid and say play Metroid Prime.

But I don't think any game in the Metroid series had as big an impact on the world of gaming as Super Metroid did.

So I'm gonna say play Super Metroid, drop Super Mario World, and play either Super Mario Brothers or Super Mario 64.

If you're just looking for a game that made gaming what it is today, those are probably the big two.

Play one of those, and unfortunately, erase Mega Man.
