You go first.
R
2:31Reece ReillyHOST
Okay, well, my overview is that Metroid Prime 4 is a textbook example of why design is the most important aspect of a game.
R

I think from an art standpoint, beautiful.

And no, that does not just mean Zelda.
A
7:07AshgarHOST
It really is very much in the sort of Metroid Prime style.
A
7:12AshgarHOST
It is not a first-person shooter, however.
A
7:16AshgarHOST
It's got a very unique sort of painterly art style that I haven't seen anybody try since Guild Wars 2.
Metroid Prime 4 | The Falcon Show Commentary
F

We're pretty psyched.
F
0:06FalconHOST
If you can't tell from this title screen and the fact that there's no title on it, we have got Metroid Prime 4.
F
0:14FalconHOST
Right, y'all? We are primed for Metroid Prime 4.
F
0:17FalconHOST
We are indeed.
F
0:18FalconHOST
Kevin, Eric, both of you.
F
1:17FalconHOST
But it's so strange to see a title screen without a title on it.
K

Yeah.
K

This is like the Metroid Prime way.

What is a good remake, and what makes a good remake, Falcon?
F
24:14FalconHOST
Well, that's a good question because, I mean, on one hand, you could say the Metroid Prime remake is a good remake.
F
24:20FalconHOST
I mean, that's pretty much...
F
24:22FalconHOST
It's very faithful.

Metroid Prime or the new Metroid Ravenous? Ravenous.

Yeah, I think it's well-deserved.

I think if you look at his legacy with Nintendo and what he's done from the original Donkey Kong right through, you know, classic Super Mario Brothers right up to Metroid Prime, you know, he's shown his talent going from... 80s arcade machines to first-person shooters adventure games um you know he's done bits with i think pokemon red and blue he was involved in and legend of zeldas and just absolutely unbelievable he is nintendo he knows what a nintendo game any miyamoto game you play feels nintendo he knows what us about he knows you know what the consumer wants and um yeah i think it's well deserved i think it's absolutely fantastic and uh yeah what an absolute legend he is really and to be that many years still working for nintendo and you know he's probably seen many a person come and go from that company from you know ceos to developers bits and pieces yet he still keeps going on and making great games and yeah absolutely superb well deserved like i say
G
43:25GeorgeHOST
Yeah, I think I find it almost a surprise that he's the first person since, what did I say, 1930s to win such an award from the gaming industry in Japan, which has been right at the forefront of certainly making some of the more innovative titles, making some of the more kind of fan-loved examples and probably some of the more what URI or the wider industry would class as artistic interpretations of the genre full stop.
G

Yeah.

Metroid Prime was released in 2002, the same day as Metroid Fusion, which is absolutely insane to think about, by Retro Studios, published by Nintendo on the GameCube, and of course it was exclusive.

Let's see where it landed on people's lists.

When a remaster comes out in the 2020s and it's a, for a game that came out, what was the year against 2002? And that lived up to everything y'all have been saying.

I've spent most of my life hearing about Metroid prime and being like, all right yeah sure i believe it sure right the game is amazing that game is great like i was never really a metroid person i never really got that into even super metroid which i know is one of the greatest games of all time as well but like when that remaster came out i don't even know why i picked it up i don't know what compelled me but man i got so into it man the atmosphere in this game is so incredible and man did retro studios know what they were doing as far as creating a really good metroidvania action backtrack Sorry, yeah, back traction.

B

Yeah, I mean, again, if you only have 10 games from the 90s, then you're going to lose some darlings, right? But I saw some folks that were kind of, I don't know what the word is, but they felt something about Metroid Dread being 69 and Metroid Prime being 69.
B
65:42Brian AltanoGUEST
and Metroid Prime being 72, those are both really awesome games.
B

I don't really see the debate.

I think that the general consensus is that Metroid Prime is the better game.
B
65:55Brian AltanoGUEST
I think most people just say that.
B
