Ep. 88: Faith, Family, Fun, and Fizz: Connecting Science and Faith with Brock Eastman

What I love about your story is just how God works out all those details in his right timing, right? Like you have this desire and this curiosity with your own kids to do fun things, to teach them about the world and to connect that to the Lord, to connect that to their faith.

And that's where I think that's what I really want for our preschool programs to think through.

OK, we do science in our classrooms every day, hopefully.

Or some form of it, right? Like maybe we're not doing experiments, but we are talking about creation.

We're talking about how God shows up for us.

Hopefully, we're connecting all those things to faith, that God made all these things, that the way chemicals react together, the way we can drop a Mentos in a Diet Coke and watch it.

Like, it's so fun.

How do we connect that to faith? I think that's that next step that we really need help with, which is why I love that you've created these resources for that.

Because I think as parents, as classroom teachers, for a lot of people, that doesn't come naturally.

We love the science.

We love God.

Connecting them together feels hard.

Well, and there's a reason for that.

And if you remind me towards the end of the show, I got a couple of experiments we can do together to the fun science there.

But no, you're absolutely right.

And I think our generation, Monica, you're my generation.

Very much.

We felt this disconnect or this forced disconnect between faith and science.

Right.

We've seen that in our culture last 10, 20 years, probably since before the 80s.

But I grew up in the 80s.

So as as you saw the 80s, 90s, you really knew.

Okay.

School is a place for learning.

Church is a place for worship.
