To my 87 after that swap was done because the front end was like, I want to say it was like low at the time.
So I was test driving it.
Yeah.
And I remember I got pulled over or, uh, when i was taking photos like a police rolled up and he was asking like some questions he like frisked me too for some reason i don't know why it was like the weirdest thing yeah he pulled up my pants it was weird dude
i just wanted to touch a young guy or some shit i don't know
days
but uh yeah that was weird that was a weird that was a weird situation And then drove it back.
And then I wound up raising the car a little bit, putting my wheels on.
And then I actually ran on a startup tune for years on that instead of getting it tuned right away because I was like broke-ish.
You know, dyno tuning wasn't cheap back then either.
It was like $400 or something like that.
So I was like, eh.
Plus, I'm not done throwing parts at it.
So I'd rather have everything on it before dyno tuning it.
Yeah.
That was summer 04.
Got it running at the top of 05.
It's almost like a throwback to my ZC swap.
Nice.
05 to 95.
Top of 05 to top of 95.
What's that? What ECU? Oh, I was running a K-Pro back then.
It was like the early first-gen K-Pro ECU.
Yeah,
Yeah, they were.
I kind of forgot what I paid for that, but I think it was like...
Yeah, it was probably like $700 back then or something like that.
And then the headers were expensive too.
Oh yeah, that's true.
The most expensive part of the swap back then was headers.
And I remember our crew, Dan, was like selling his header like hotcakes back then because everybody wanted him since the swap was taken off.
And that was a pretty good header design he had too.
Or you can go with...
Yeah, it was a Fortuna one.
The one that everybody copies.
Yeah.
Or you jump into a $1,000 header, $1,000 plus header where you get like high tech or ASP I think it was back then too.
There's a couple others.
But I just went budget mode.
Our creator was fine.
Plus I was buddies with Dan and he hooked it up.
But I had to wait like six months.
That was the holdup actually back then because he was waiting for his restock coming from China, I guess.
Okay.
Yeah.
And I remember there was like a fitment issue with like the flange holes.
Oh.
It was like, I think the angle of it was cut wrong.
So the header was like hanging low.
So we had to get them like shaved where it would tilt the header more towards the undercarriage.
problem.
I remember there was a period of time there was a problem.
He was getting those fixed, and it was like a six-month downtime, wait time, and finally got it.
That was like the holdup for my swap getting running was the header.
And then after that it was, yeah, but yeah, the header was like expensive ECU wiring was just, you run OE and then you run, I think Dan was also offering, I sent him my harness and he would set it up for the swap.
Okay.
And then he also offered like the conversion harness as well.
I wasn't really super keen on the hybrid stuff back then, like I am now, but it was more like, cause Dan was like Mr. K swap back then.
So I was just, you just rely on him.
He was like, so West coast.
K-Swap tech guy.
yeah, I trust that this is going to work.
And we're all
That was still a thing.
Easy communications.
And, uh, yeah.
And then I remember taking that to the track the first time too.
That was like fun.
And I remember trick tracking.
It was, this was Oh six tracking for JHP at, uh, what event was that? I have to look it up.
It was like...
It wasn't GTA.
It was something else back then.
Yeah.
That's what it was.
Yep.
Yep.
See? Getting old here.
Forgetting shit.
So...
Like, we've gone through almost 20 years of, like, car builds and stuff like that.
I don't remember what I had for breakfast three weeks ago, and you're telling me about getting the suspension off of an 88 Civic.
