My guest today is Tara Youngblood, and Tara is, by my estimation, not the kind of person on whom you should sleep.

Although many of you listening have, whether you're conscious of it or not, slept, and probably quite restfully, on her fine products.

You see, Tara and her husband, Todd, co-founded the ChiliPad, an innovative mattress topper whose chief selling feature is its unique ability to cool those who lie upon it.

This sleep-obsessed duo has since sold that company and launched a new product, the Geli Mattress, that's G-E-L-I, for the advertisement of which Tara sought out my little platform.

A clinician, a scientist, and a serial entrepreneur, Tara is also an average person, not unlike you and me, to whom sleep didn't always come easily.

In fact, after an unthinkable tragedy befell her, about which Tara quite bravely opens up during the course of our chat, she suffered an awful case of insomnia.

This dreadful experience, along with her passion for science, led her to develop a, well, a couple really powerful products.

Central to her sleep philosophy, to which we devote the early minutes of this positively delightful conversation, is the notion that temperature, the temperature of your body, of your environment, of the mattress atop which you rest, is of utmost importance.

If the temperature is not quite right, well, you might be in for some trouble that night.

A few minutes into this one, and I think you'll agree, Tara was a delightful person to chat with.

A Carolinian by way of Canada, she struck me as someone exceedingly polite, genuinely curious, humble, honest, and frankly eager to spread the word about her ideas and her work.
