S2E32 Seahawks Win Without Sam Darnold

The opener went as best as you can, you know, want it to go with not playing your starters or your significant players in the preseason.

So the game started off, they were kind of in the fog.

It took them like kind of a full half to get acquainted with the speed of the game.

You won and now you have a coach who still has what they call teaching tape.

You know, you'd rather have teaching tape on a win than a loss.

It's unfortunate that you lost your starting quarterback, but that's why, you know, you get Drew Locke who gets paid the big bucks, one of the highest paid backups in the NFL and one of the better backups in the NFL.

And he did what he was supposed to do.

He came in and saved the day.

So not, you know, a warm and fuzzy feeling on some of the things that went on, but all in all, best case scenario for me, Chris.

Yeah.

There's no style points in the NFL.

A win is a win.

You'll take it.

But rustiness, especially with the pre-snap penalties, procedure problems, things like that, it just seemed like it almost had a feel as far as sync on offense.

It almost had a feel like a second preseason game might have or used to have back in the day.

I won't say this was a fourth preseason game because obviously if you lose it, then it really hurts.

But probably not exactly what McDonald wants.

There was a lot of times you saw on the TV broadcasts that they went over to his face and he just had that stone.

He doesn't seem like a guy who's going to explode and erupt or anything like that, but he just had that look like...

Kind of like the teacher is giving you detention and you don't want any part of that right there.

But hey, they got it done.

There was a lot to build on.

But that's also that rustiness.

Also the result of, like you said, the guys not having a lot of snaps.

So many guys were seeing their first snaps of the season in that game.
