It's going to be the 71st edition of the Cork Film Festival, which is brilliant.

And they'd already announced their opening and closing films, which were Lucy Lost and The Debut.

Yeah, but they've got Irish filmmaking kind of at the centre of the programme, which includes the likes of Ancestors, which is written and directed by David Turpin, which won recently at the Toronto International Film Festival, stars Aina Hardwick, Rupert Everett and Christina Hendricks.

At the screening of Ancestors on Friday the 20th of November, Aina Hardwick will be presented with the Honoré Putnam Award.

which is named in honour of the festival's patron Oscar winner, David Putnam.

Other Irish films to mention, Skintown, directed by Ciarán J. Walsh, stars Jack Roan, Chris Wally and Jamie Lee O'Donnell.

We'll also screen Saoirse Monica Jackson starring in that one, Aidan Quinn, Aoife Berthistle starring.

And documentary audiences can look forward to Tin Castle, which follows the O'Reilly family as they navigate life in a rundown trailer surrounded by the fields of rural Ireland.

I was having a quick look at the shorts programs, which there's always plenty of as well.

And I noticed that Saoirse Ronan's directorial feature, or short film debut, Paper Plane, which we mentioned because it's screened at the Venice Film Festival, is going to be in the festival also.

Take a look at it at corkfilmfest.org. There's so many films on, so much to book and it looks really good.
