Kourtney is joined this week by Rachel Gomber, mom of 3, content creator and wife of pitcher Austin Gomber. The two chat about what they think of the focus on MLB wives and the increased attention…
Um, well, you and I actually got to meet at the MLB Wives brunch in spring training, which was kind of cool, to connect, um, with, you know, different wives from different teams.
What do you think about, um, baseball putting a shift of focus kind of on our world, and shining a light more into what we do? I feel like it's happening in a lot of other sports, too, especially, like, the, the Taylor Swift effect, and NFL, and-
I've complained to Austin for years how I've noticed that other sports are doing it.
But I've always kind of felt like baseball, like, wasn't, and I was like, "Oh, they're behind.
They should be doing this." Um, and then Austin always, you know, kind of rebuttled, and was like, "Well, they don't...
They don't need to." Uh, but I'm so glad that they're doing it, um, because I think there's a niche there, and I think there's an interest there, and I think it'll get a lot of, like, younger fans involved and interested in it.
And I'm glad, too, because I feel like, I mean, I've been doing this for years, and, of most of Austin's career.
And I remember when I first started, I always was, like, a little embarrassed by it, felt like it was, like, a little, like, taboo, like, posting on social media, and, like, the vlogs and stuff.
And sometimes I felt like other veteran wives, like, looked at it as, like, "Why is she doing that? That's weird." I don't actually know if they did feel that way.
But, um, and now I feel like it's become more of, like, normalized, and then not only normalized, but, like, supported by Major League Baseball in themselves.
I thought that was cool, and I'm really glad they're starting to do that, and offer, you know, all their expertise for, um, all the girls coming forward that are in this space.
I think you made a few really good points of bringing, you know, younger female sports fans into it.
That was so much of the, I know I already said it, but the Taylor Swift thing.
