Long-distance relationship

It was a very interesting time.

But while I was in Costa Rica, Caleb and I were doing long distance, which was great because we hit our one year while I was in Costa Rica.

That was quite fun.

Why don't you tell everyone how we met?

So that was eye-opening to me because I was like, hello? I thought I was clean.

Clearly I'm not.

what do you think I know we kind of talked about this a little bit already but kind of like the general theme of the episode like what do you think some of your biggest takeaways were after doing like long distance for four months with Ari being at port and Caleb being at home.

Like, do you feel like, I mean, obviously that was a season that I'm sure like grew you and it like worked out because you guys got married, which is hype.

adding that in, dude.

I have a buddy of mine who's in a long distance relationship.

We had a heart to heart about it because he was like, I got to get out of it.

But it's so hard to break up with someone far away because you have to do it to the face.

Yes.

He said like minus set it like 15 miles around where I am because I don't want a long distance relationship.

And I thought he lived in the city also.

And turns out he does not.

Like I feel, I feel like if he's going to lie about this for 20, clear that like i am up front this is what i want this is what i'm looking for and i feel like he wasn't he he's lied like what else is he lying about you said

that emily in your like you said this man you must live within a 10 mile radius of me like

i said i'm not interested in a long distance relationship and i'm not interested in something that wouldn't be serious

well that that is a long distance relationship i mean by definition really

So there was like over a year that we didn't meet and it was solely a long distance relationship.

And yeah, that kind of attachment we both formed to each other and love was so strong that we, yeah, like there was no problem with that period of the LDR, long distance relationship.

We got married November, 2020 during COVID.

I didn't care about the regulations.

So for those, you know, we mentioned, we dated last semester.

After that, we went full on long distance for like five years.

So Rachel is trying to tell Ben to find a better person.

But Ben said that he never thinks of LDR or a girlfriend, right? He's just excited for the happy days with her, even though he likes her, but he knows his limitation.

So he likes to live in the moment.

So from just now where he said, I'm willing to cook and clean and move to France and move to wherever just to be with you.

Okay, maybe they'll say later.

Okay, so here we have Bran basically admitting that he had a thing with Rene.

Bran admitting to settle his marriage and then proceed with the LDR.

Oh my god.

Okay.

Next thing I want to talk about is how to make long distance relationships work.

This is one that I actually was shocked at how many of you asked, but as a bit of background, me and my boyfriend have been together for five years.

Three of those years, we were doing long distance.

So when I tell you, I understand how difficult it can be.

I genuinely do.

I think the first thing I would say is that long distance is absolutely doable.

I I feel like people can be quite negative about long distance relationships.

Michelle was moving back to New York and their relationship wasn't ending.

Yep, they're gonna give long, long distance a red hot shot.

[instrumental music plays] The night before I had my flight to back home to New York, he actually threw me a surprise dinner, I had no idea, with all of my closest friends who I'd met in that past year of being in, in Sydney, and it was the first time anybody has ever thrown me anything surprise, and I did not expect everybody who was there to be there.

So I remember just, like, bawling my eyes out, being so touched and so, again, bittersweet.

Like, everybody who was at that dinner thought, like, "Oh, yeah," like, "They're gonna do this forever." Like, "They're the ones." Like, "This is it." Like, "This couple is gonna make it." So it was quite reassuring that we were gonna do this, and this was for real, and this was forever.

When I left, I was very much under the impression of, like, we are doing this.

We are gonna be in a long distance, but we are committed.

We're gonna be faithful.
