H&J 158 - Sorting Things Out

We'll start with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Obviously, the Cattell Marte saga has finally come to a close.

He's back with the team.

What else is going on in Arizona?

Yeah, so not a lot of surprises here when you're going through it.

You're probably starting Moreno and Carroll and Marte.

Corbin Carroll, even if he goes nuts this month, he's going to have a hard time recouping the value he had back on draft day, but he's still good enough that you probably should keep plugging him in.

Tim Tawa is a guy who I think has been really good the last couple of weeks.

This is kind of like a Vargas rule.

If you use Nick's terminology, I'm not sure I care about Tawa next season, but I'll care about him for the rest of this season because he is hitting well.

Lars Newt Barr should get plenty of playing time in the first series against Houston, but he sits against lefties and they'll see two of them in Kansas City.

So watch out for that.

And if you want to drop Nolan Arenado and Jordan Lawler, go right ahead.

I'm not going to stop you.

Both of them, one has been solid at times this season.

The other has a lot of upside.

Neither of them, I think, are necessarily going to help you for the next couple of series.

You can let them go.

Let's move on to the athletics.

They play a bunch of home games coming up, Scott.

Talk to me about their lineup.

Yeah, too bad all of their best hitters are hurt and not here, right? So this lineup is really being held together by Lawrence Butler, Henry Bolt, Zach Giloff, and to an extra extent, Jeff McNeil.

None of these guys are technically auto-start.

Lawrence Butler would probably be drop-down.
