Toyota 4Runner

I live on my cruise control.

My daughter is looking at a 2023 Toyota 4Runner.

And she's got a test drive scheduled and she's going to, um, group one, uh, dealership in Stafford.

And I am curious to know their fairness and honesty reputation.

I've had a couple of the other groups.

My initial impression of Group 1 after the two that took over for my dealers wasn't good.

But let me just tell you, she's looking at a 4Runner.

She can't get anything that's going to be a better vehicle if she wants to get 500,000, 600,000 miles out of it.

I think that would be great.

And I haven't got the 4Runner, the new 4Runner, out in the white stuff yet.

I want to do that really bad.

I think for me, part of my problem with Flight 21 right now is I'm worn out.

Once I put my perimeter up with the lights around my vehicle and around camp, there's nothing that is going to be coming into that light because it doesn't want to be seen, right? So it's going to stay in the perimeter of where those lights aren't shining.

And at least I know that they can come in that far and there haven't been coming in any farther yet.

except for the time that it rubbed up against my 4Runner when I had the lights off.

So my thought is that you create the barrier and you use a thermal camera or you use some sort of night vision to capture anything that might be coming in just between that ring of light and the forest.

I mean, and the truth doesn't hurt.

It's the truth that, you know, I mean, no, I mean, not everybody can drive around in a Toyota, silver Toyota 4Runner and hide it at their aunt's house in, you know, in Rhode Island and cover it with a tarp, you know.

When he was in jail, whose cars were sold to pay for stuff when he was in jail? You sold the 4Runner, which he did not buy from me, and you went and bought two grandfather clocks, and you got a weave.

But it doesn't have rot and that's the biggest thing.

And you notice there is a big Void here See, the FJ Cruiser is a modified 4Runner frame It looks very similar, it's actually exactly the same Except it is shorter in the back, it's kind of an odd frame So this void in the 4Runner is where the spare tire would go here, wouldn't fit That's why they put it up there, because it was shorter in the back But what the result of that is The charcoal canister is wide open, right here, super easy to access should there be any issues, although they don't really have issues And with that, there's something about mechanics I'll tell you this, this is always something that makes us wonder You know, all my career, I don't think I've ever replaced a charcoal canister or an FJ Cruiser.

I've done a lot on 4Runners, done a lot on the ones that are extremely difficult to get to, but never an FJ Cruiser where it's sitting right here.

It's almost like when something is very easy to get to, that's the car model that this part never goes south, but the ones that are buried and really difficult to see, like their second-gen Prius, Those are the ones that go bad It just always makes us wonder, like Why only these models go and these don't? I mean, they're better protected This one is exposed to the elements But they don't But getting back to what started this entire job Which is the the throw-out bearing, you can't just pull this transmission out, make the customer pay all this labor, and only replace the throw-out bearing.

Even though the clutch is probably half-worn, we'll show you that clutch in a second here, you can't just Put the throw-out bearing and send the customer on their way because the majority of this cost is the labor I mean, you're pulling this transmission out, all these broken bolts, everything has to come out That's the biggest part of the cost.

Some of them even came with vacuums in them in the back, which I didn't even know about until after the fact.

And the last vehicle on my list of the top 10 is a Toyota 4Runner.

Great vehicle.

What more can you say? It's a great vehicle, built on a truck platform, but you kind of feel like big shit driving around on a 4Runner.

The new RAV4 just came out.

The new 4Runner just came out.

Well, they're still dealing with the Tundra problems and all that.

But still, that model is actually solving very well.
