Minnesota Gophers were absolutely crushed by the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday in West Lafayette. Let that sink in. The Purdue Boilermakers. All credit to Purdue. But that is an awful loss for the…
Well, full disclosure for those who listen to this in audio form, things are so out of hand in West Lafayette that we are recording this before the game is even over.
And Manny, I would be really upset if, If this wasn't entirely predictable and the history of Golden Gophers football our entire lifetime, I said during the game, Mason, Jerry Kill, PJ Fleck, it always seems to be the same.
You have a chance to get some momentum, get some goodwill on your side, and you run right into the damn wall.
that make this program ever ascending to the next level feel virtually impossible.
It's like you're running the, I don't know, 200 or 100 meter hurdles and you're clearing every hurdle and you're clearing every hurdle and you're clearing every hurdle and then there's just that one that you trip over inexplicably.
It's like the shorter hurdle that you should be able to just easily hop over that you just inexplicably just like trip over and fall and everything is just ruined and you're like, oh yeah, well, we got to start over or whatever the case may be.
I mean, this is... it's to your point it's it's it's so predictable and i you know i'll be honest like for me it wasn't as predictable because i expected the gophers to go in and win this game and i didn't care how they won it 23 to 20 10 to 7 41 35 like i don't care to me it was like If you're looking to build momentum off of beating Michigan last week, and beating Michigan last week was a huge win.
If you're trying to build some momentum to carry yourself into the latter part of the season and take that next step as a program, Purdue was a team that you should just be able to go in and take care of business and then turn your attention to, is it Iowa that's next week?
Well, yeah, and I think, Ross, too, we're starting to see, and I texted you this earlier tonight, I think we're starting to see that this is a defense that if you put them against a team inferior, middling, struggling, inept offense, they're going to look really good.
You put them up against a Washington offense that has been inconsistent and struggled to score 16 points against Utah State two weeks prior, they're going to look pretty good.
You put them up against a Michigan team that hasn't been very good offensively at all and have quarterback issues and offensive line issues and inexperience at wide receiver, new system with a new coach and everything, and you got them at home, you're going to look really good.
You put them up against a high-octane offense like Mississippi State with speed and athleticism and cohesiveness and They're going to run you out of the yard.
