Blueprint #1: Jesus changes our perspective

today though we're starting a new series it's very exciting so i thought i'd start with a with a question as i do have you ever changed your perspective about something no stupid question right we all have but let me tell you some perspectives that i've changed okay you're ready for this the first one now this is like a perspective that hasn't necessarily yet changed for me if i'm honest but it's changed for everyone else and i feel like i haven't caught up with the perspective change if i'm honest and here you're ready for this buckle up kids now Let me explain.

When I was growing up, if I wore Crocs, if I were to wear Crocs to anything, apart from, yes, exactly, I'm seeing frowns, and that's exactly what I should be seeing.

That is the right response.

If I were to anything apart from your family's going on holiday to somewhere you are never going to see anyone that you actually know, and yeah, they're waterproof and comfortable, fine.

But you do not wear these.

If I went to school on a non-school uniform day with this, I might as well find a different school the next day.

It would not have been worth it for my mental health and my sanity.

These...

I'm not going to use the word monstrosity, but the perspective change is that these are now like fashion.

Iconic, right? It's a perspective change.

They are iconic.

They are fashion.

I'm not criticizing anyone that wears those.

I haven't quite got there yet, but my daughters have, and they've got many pairs of Crocs, and it's cute, but also...

The other one, and maybe more fundamental, is the length of your socks.

Now, if you're of my generation, trainer socks or nothing else, right? If you pull your socks up, you're weird.

Do you know what I mean? That's weird.

That's weird.

You're younger than me.

That's why, Shannon.

But this is like normal now.

The perspective has changed things.

And I genuinely, this is like my maybe biggest conspiracy theory, is that the whole of fashion is run by people that are just taking the mick out of the previous generation.

So they're like, what got you bullied? Next year, it's fashionable.

And that's the thing, right? Crocs and pulled up socks, that would have got you some grief in school when I was a kid.

But no, that's cool now.

That's the way we roll.

Perspective change.

This is a minor one, right? Also, shout out Birkenstocks for Crocs for slightly fancier people.

Same vibes.

I love it.

This is my perspective change.

I'm going to tell you about something that I used to judge people for, if I'm honest, that I've had a fundamental change about.

And it is children with matching clothes.

Okay? Every time I saw, and I'm just being real with you now.

Please accept my confession.

When I saw siblings and had matching clothes, part of me, if I'm really honest, would judge those siblings.

Because I'm like, what are your parents doing? It's a bit, why? Why are they marrying matching? And then I had two children who were both girls.

And They love, this is Leonid's first day at school picture, but the reason this picture, they're very cute.

They have matching hair.

They have matching clothes down to planned the day before.

What are you wearing? Oh, I can't wear that.

I haven't got that.

Oh, literally, they planned their outfits the day before to match perfectly down to hair, down to clothes, down to everything.

I have discovered that parents whose children are matching, maybe it's just my children, but it was nothing to do with the parents.

It was 100% the children who made that happen.

And so I've reversed that.

I had a fun conversation with a colleague of mine on the way into work where I was just talking about how I've massively reversed my opinion about that.

Because if I'm honest, I used to judge parents.

Turns out, A, it's kind of cute if I'm honest.

Maybe that's just because, you know, hormones mean that I think it's cute.

I don't know.

But also, you know, sunk cost fallacy, right? I love these kids.

But also, it's mostly their choice anyway.

But we will change our opinions about lots of different things.
