The Living Word of God

Hebrews 4, verse 12.

For the Word of God is living.

It's alive.

And it is active.

It's full of energy.

And it is sharper.

It's not dull.

It is sharper than any two-edged sword.

Now look at this verb adjective.

Piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The Word that we have before us today is not some static, ancient, dusty, historical document or manuscript.

It is the living breath of the Almighty carrying His power, wisdom, and presence into every generation.

It speaks with the same authority today that it had when it was penned thousands of years ago.

And its authority is preeminent and unparalleled over the culture of this day.

It is higher than the culture.

It is our authority and it is where we stand and live and breathe.

It speaks as loudly in the school classroom, a hotel room, or a back street bar as it does in the church house.

I've said many times, do you want to hear God speak out loud? How many of you would like to hear God speak out loud to you? Would you like to do that? Here's how.

Go in a room by yourself, open the Word of God, read it out loud, and you'll hear God speak to you.

It is the power of the living Word of God.

It is where God has spoken.

It is where God speaks to us.

Now look at the screen.

Look at these four things about the Word of God.

God's Word comforts the brokenhearted.
