BWB 013 - Balls

Name a player that you have held onto through trials and tribulations this season who looks like they might be turning it around and you hope and pray is turning the corner anyway.

All right, so for me, it's Caleb Durbin.

I really liked what he did at the end of last year, especially knowing that he was actually doing it through injury.

and there's a lot of things that he's been doing as of late.

Now, I had a whole thing of stats lined up, but then someone on Twitter named Stats at Red Sox Stats did a great job here.

So I'm just going to read off what he said, and I'm going to go with it.

So...

Before his...

So he had 164 plate appearances.

And then after that, he had 114.

So it's A versus B. He's gone from swinging at pitches in the zone 58% of the time.

Now he's at 72%.

So he's waiting for his good pitches and he's actually swinging at it.

He's also swinging harder.

So his bat speed went up.

And with that... better path of contact what he's been doing as of late um he's shown a decrease in ground balls which is great an uptick in pulling the ball and you've seen his stats over the last little while his batting average has gone up from um where is it here I don't know.

He's been on fire as of late.

He's hitting the ball well.

And over the last month or so, he's been getting on base.

He's been hitting the ball hard.

He's been stealing bases and he's been doing everything that you expected from him to carry over from last year.

And I think it's something to remember when, um, you're looking at players to pick a, he was injured in the off season.

So he had to recover from that.

And B he came to it from like to a brand new teams, brand new city and all of that.

There's a lot of adjustment that needs to go on here.
