What I want to talk about today is what are the hallmarks of a wealth warrior? What are the hallmarks of a wealth warrior? And I've got to tell you, from my perspective, I just see that whenever you start talking about money, whenever you start talking about business and generating returns for the kingdom of God, you enter into an environment of warfare.
And there are just some things that I've learnt along the way that have influenced me or impacted me in a very practical way to really work through how do we actually break through the issue of becoming a wealth warrior.
And not a wealth warrior, a wealth warrior.
Because the devil doesn't want us to have money.
The devil does not want you to have money if... you want to resource the kingdom of God.
The devil does not want you to have one red cent or penny if you want to influence the kingdom of God.
He's happy for you to have as much money as you like if you want to spend it on yourself or if you want to be consumed by materialism and all of those things.
And I'm not saying those things are bad, but he's happy for you to have it if you've got selfish ambition with it.
He wants to destroy you and take it away.
So the first aspect of becoming a wealth warrior is that wealth warriors are people with purpose.
And in Matthew 19, and I'll read the scripture, Matthew 19, 13 to 24 says, Little children were brought for Jesus to lay his hands on them and pray, but the disciples scolded those who brought them.
Don't bother him, they said.
But Jesus said, let the little children come to me and don't prevent them, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
And he put his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.
But to answer your question, you can get to heaven if you keep the commandments.
Which ones, the man asked.
And Jesus replied, don't kill, don't commit adultery, don't steal, don't lie, honour your father and mother and love your neighbour as yourself.
I've always obeyed every one of them, the youth replied.
What else must I do? Jesus told him, if you want to be perfect, go and sell everything you have and give the money to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven and come follow me.
But when the young man heard this, he went away sadly for he was very rich.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, it is almost impossible for a rich man to get into the kingdom of heaven.
I say it again, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
