Episode 240 - What's Your Reaction Too

I thought about that question, and my favorite player growing up was Pete Rose.

I remember I had a Pete Rose poster I think Wheaties had put out.

When all that broke about the gambling and all that, as a kid, it kind of broke my heart because he was my guy.

I grew up Bob Horner.

When his cable was coming on, you had the Cubs and the Braves.

That's pretty much who you got and whatever ESPN would show.

But I always liked Pete Rose, the way he played, his hustle.

Just seemed like a tough, gritty player.

When all the cheating scandals, I'm not cheating, but gambling scandal came out, I remember I was so upset as a kid, I tore that poster up.

Oh, my.

Like, I just literally ripped it off my bedroom door because I was so mad that he was involved in all that stuff.

And he was kind of my childhood hero as a baseball player.

As a player, you know, there's been others.

Like you said, Eric, they get traded away.

I know Braves fans right now with Freddie Freeman.

That's, of course, is a Marlins fan.

I hope he enjoys L.A.

But then I read the guy that they signed to replace him.

It's pretty deadly with a bat as well, but...

And younger, so you may be wanting Freddie back, but Freddie absolutely just kills the Marlins.

He's the biggest Marlin killer of them all, and I'm glad he has moved on.

But you get attached to certain players on your team.

Several years ago, I always loved Jim Tomey when he was with the Indians.

And then when he left and to see him in that different uniform, it's tough.

You forget it's a business.
