In this milestone episode, Damian, Troy, and Fern look back on 14 months of podcasting, growing from 1,000 to nearly 7,000 subscribers, and moving into a brand-new studio. We dive deep into the…
Yeah, I think I think what I find interesting, though, for me is so when I originally first started doing or set up the podcast, right, I was doing it one on one.
And that's fun because you get to meet people and you get to ask them questions.
But like Damien said, not necessarily a problem with that, but something that kind of comes up is the only people that listen are the ones that actually care about the people, right? And if you're only talking to local people, it's unlikely that someone in another state might even recognize who that person is.
And so if they don't know who that person is, they're less likely to listen, right? Funny story here is, and this is actually why it's actually true, but I shouldn't need to say that, but I think people may not realize contextually how this worked out is my daughter's 13.
So she started making like masks for like, like animal mask, kind of like the, when you go to a party and you see people wearing the mask, she like makes those now for fun and she wants to sell them.
And.
then she says, Hey, if you want to buy them, you know, go to my website.
Essentially.
She's like trying to like, you know, start like a little side hustle or a real hustle.
Cause she's a kid.
And in three weeks, she, she's gotten like 40 or 50,000 views from people watching.
Um, she's gotten over, I think a hundred or 200 subscribers in like three weeks.
Now compare that to me.
Yeah.
I was doing the podcast for, I did like 18 or 19 episodes recorded, right? Less than 5,000 views total.
And most of those were on shorts that had like 1,000 views on a couple of them.
So I'm talking like 100 to actually between 35 and 100 views per episode, right? and I spent a lot of money to get there.
So, we'll say Damien woke me up.
I think the very first thing I said to you was, I'm not doing that one-on-one interview, right? I think that was the number one thing I said.
But what was going through my mind at that time was, how do we make use of the idea of a podcast And it took us a while to get here.
But I think even beyond the podcast, I think for me, my personal growth has been how do I communicate with the average person? Because now I'm speaking to Fern, who really...
They're starting to learn security.
I'm getting dangerous now, baby.
