Indian people

A word which came to mean revealed scripture.

So we have in Indian thought Shruti and Smriti.

Wherever there is a conflict, Shruti is the authoritative scripture.

Shruti is primarily the Vedas and the Upanishads which are part of the Vedas.

If they are giving a sanction, then the Smriti can be accepted.

Otherwise, not accepted.

That's why the Smritis are not part of mainstream Indian thought, including Manu Smriti.

It's outdated.

Indians are very religious and faith-based.

But I really grew up in a home that... stayed away from it.

I didn't have one figurine of a God.

And it's, again, seems to be related to latitude.

Northern European people seem to be able to put down massive amounts of energy in subcutaneous stores and be relatively protected from insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction compared to, say, South Asians, Indians, even Africans, Australian Aboriginals, Pacific Islanders.
