I'm recording this on Thursday, September 24th, before the third game in the Dodgers-Padres series at Dodger Stadium.
The Padres, of course, playing for their postseason, a wild card berth, while the Dodgers, at least at the time of this recording, well, their magic number is still one to clinch that second place in terms of overall record finish in the National League.
Meaning, as one of the top two teams in terms of record in the National League, the boys in blue would get a bye, passing the Wild Card series and starting in the post season straight up with the Division Series, which makes sense because they won the division.
But because of the current playoff format, that's just not how things work anymore.
That means there was an equal amount of light and dark during [laughs] the calendar day the other day.
Josué De Paula, 21-year-old Dodger's top prospect, one of the top prospects in all of baseball.
Has been tearing it up in the big leagues and shown a lot of confidence, attitude, a lot of thumping his chest, a lot of very excitedly and kind of exaggeratedly doing the, uh, extra base hit celebration.
Seems to be a style [laughs] that a lot of young players are picking up on these days.
I am too, but he's back in Oklahoma City, back in triple A as of yesterday.
I don't think we've mentioned on this show, and it has to be said, Kyle Tucker's been swinging a good bat of late, thank goodness.
We officially turned the corner on that sort of team-wide slump that we were on earlier in August and hit a bit of a collective hot streak.
