Some Expectations for the Buffalo Bills in 2026 | DC

We just don't know what this looks like with a brand new first time head coach and first time NFL DC.

That's all fair points.

We really don't know.

It could be.

Brady could be a better coach than Sean McDermott, and this Bills team could finish worse.

He could be a better coach, and they could be better.

He could be a better coach, and they could be the same.

He could be a worse coach, and they could be better, same, worse, all these things.

There are a multitude of variables and possibilities for the team this year.

First-time head coach in Joe Brady.

What does the team look like under his direction? Is he more of the cool student teacher that is now all of a sudden a – full-time teacher now and kind of has control of the classroom.

And what does that look like? Jim Leonard, you folks know, I have a ton of faith in Jim Leonard.

He's, he's really kind of the only thing that's keeping me, uh, uh, from being too pessimistic on some aspects with the defense.

Um, but he is at the, at this level, the NFL level, like you said, RJ, a first time NFL DC, I have a ton of faith in him from his time at Wisconsin.

And then with some of the things he picked up in Denver and what his role was at Denver.

But again, uh, all that sample size technically could be considered somewhat meaningless because we're not meaningless, but not necessarily, you know, the sample size needed to give full faith in terms of what he could be for his, for a defensive coordinator.

And, you know, you've got DJ more on the offense, you got some tweaks and some changes, but kind of some more of the same.

It really is this interesting mix of like a team that has changes at the helm and but also is operating in a lot of the same ways as they have prior.

And so it's, it's going to be interesting to see, but I like that comment, you know, for as much as, and that was always what it was with McDermott for as much as a new coach could also get you over the hump.

A new coach also removes the floor that McDermott gave you every year.

And we'll see, you know, which, which, which way the pendulum swings.

It'll be interesting.

And I'm sure everybody will be super even keeled and not emotional about it based on how the start of the year goes.
