The hosts discuss various sports news, including the Buffalo Bills' culture and fan base, the Tampa Bay Rays' success in the World Series, and the San Francisco 49ers' undefeated season. They also…
So I just got back from Las Vegas and I will say that it's an understatement that the Bill's Mafia showed up in force.
The energy, the passion, the loyalty, the generosity, the connection, all of it is so fucking real.
I went to a tailgate with Pat O'Connell good buddy of mine, met him on a blackjack table in Vegas 25 years ago, and I had mentioned this last week, but his father just recently passed away.
This was a three-sport athlete in college, a badass, and he certainly lived a full life, but one of the things that the Bills do is that they connect generations.
And so this was this unbelievable connection that not only, say, Pat had with his father, has with his mother, who we talked to when we were at the tailgate, but it's what bonded us.
And it's what bonded all these other people in Las Vegas this weekend at that Bills mafia party.
And they have these standard things that they do, right? And, you know, whether it's Mr.
Brightside or the breaking of the tables and everything else, the where else would you rather be than right here, right now? Marv Levy.
They became, in a lot of ways, the lovable losers, right? Well, the Bills have never won a Super Bowl.
Now, I want people to understand, if you go back into the history of the organization, they actually... were AFL champions, like a bunch.
Now, you all remember the Four Street Super Bowl, so you all, a lot of, if you're younger and listening to this, you certainly don't remember.
But the Bills were the most entertaining team in football for damn near a decade.
I think there was one of the four that they were favored in and they should have won.
And other than that, there were underdogs in each of them and they don't pull it off.
And so I think not only is the football world and the Buffalo Bills fans and everything, you know, supportive of this community, but I think what makes it so special is that now you're starting to get this outside influence of people who are latching on.
Because when we were Bills fans in 2001, and you're going through that kind of dark time, the whole 2000s just basically weren't great.
