So I think you're not going to see somewhere in scripture a command of thou shalt memorize this many verses a day or anything like that.

But I think what we see is the promises that are associated with it as promises I think it goes beyond encouragement of just like, hey, this might be a good idea.

But like, hey, here's really good things, right? So you see in Psalm 119, I've hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

But yeah, I think it's beyond just like, hey, this might be a nice thing to do if you have time.

Yeah, I think it's similarly one where it doesn't say specifically you have to memorize a certain time of day.

And I just don't see how we can be fully equipped for every good work if we always have to be looking at our note cards to have it.

because when we're out working, it's not like we always have the word of God with us.

And even if you just think about the history of the church, so the vast majority of Christians throughout the ages were illiterate, meaning they did not have Bibles that they could read or apps on their phone that they could look to.

And so the way that they would have the word of God so that they would be thoroughly equipped for every good work would have been through catechesis and scripture memory so yeah I don't see it specifically commanded you shall do it a certain amount each day but I think it is pretty clear that we are to hide God's word in our heart and I don't know how you hide it without memorizing it yeah Yep.

I think we see in Psalm 19 where it talks about how the law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
