The Year Everything Got Weird: Money, Politics, People & AI

Cool.

Have you seen Tires at all on Netflix? Oh yeah, I love it.

Some of those guys I know from Chicago because I went to, well Chicago and helped manage that place and then Philadelphia.

Those are Philly guys.

Okay.

Yeah, Tires is funny.

It is.

Yeah, I just binge watched it recently.

There are three seasons on Netflix and it's good because I think it tackles like We were talking about how old we are, and I think it tackles 40s male life, or however old these people are on the show.

But it's clear that Shane Gillis is meant to represent early 40s.

The people around him are either 30s or 40s.

And somebody on social media recently, on Twitter, was asking, why are there no great novels or no great movies about life in your 40s or beyond? I think there are.

I think it's just overwhelmingly depressing subject matter.

Oh, yeah.

But

in the case of Tires, it makes it funny.

Like, these are guys who are starting to realize they may not have a wife and kids, and they're just kind of living in the present moment and getting through it.

I think a lot of people are in that position.

Yeah, I really like it.

I think it's super honest and humble, and they're just great guys.

It's a fun show to watch.

You can tell there's a lot of improv energy, kind of similar to Always Sunny, right?

Oh, yeah.

Like the team likes each other, you can tell, or the cast.

Yeah, it's produced by a guy, John McKeever, I think, and he was a guy that I knew in Philly.
