Former Congressman Ken Buck discusses his new book, "Wake Up, America! The Rise of Socialism is the Death of Freedom."

Well, I have been interested in the manipulation and deception of climate alarmists for quite a while.

that in a 2007 Supreme Court ruling, Massachusetts versus the EPA, the court said the Environmental Protection Agency can regulate anything that outputs certain gases if the agency simply declares those gases to be dangerous.

And so the EPA... declared carbon dioxide dangerous, even though every human exhales carbon dioxide with every breath.

So a bunch of unelected bureaucrats now obviously had massive regulatory power.

I wanted to ask you, Ken Buck, how did particularly Obama and his leftist bureaucrats abuse that kind of power?

if you'll remember president obama appeared for a newspaper editorial board meeting in san francisco and said i will shut down the coal industry if i'm elected president and he used the epa to do everything in his power to shut down the coal industry in america and they use this particular rule to do that so um yeah you know uh co2 um is is just has been on this planet for since the planet was formed, will be on the planet long after we're gone.

Now, one of the things about climate alarmism that troubles me particularly is the effect that it has on young people, particularly now.

They have been told over and over that humans are literally destroying the planet.

So the true data shows that humans' impact on the global environmental trends is a tiny fraction of the overall factors that affect our dynamic ecosystem.

But how do we break that fearful trance that the leftists have purposefully inflicted on young people?

I talk to young people all the time and they tell me things like, this is the worst time in the history of the world to be alive.

You've got this little computer in your hand that you can use as a phone, as a calendar, You know, to watch great podcasts like this one, you can't be serious that this is the worst time.

And so the climate alarmism has really created a pessimism among a group of people.

There's a quote in the book or a little paragraph in the book about Greta Thunberg, putting in a tweet, a post on X or on her social media somewhere.
